Tesla Malaysia began previewing its driverless CyberCab robotaxi at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur on October 29. The tour is scheduled to conclude on November 22. Tesla started CyberCab production at Gigafactory Texas in April and began offering limited public rides in Austin, Texas, in September. The vehicle is a two-seat, driverless robotaxi with no steering wheel, pedals, side mirrors, or rear window, unveiled in 2024.

Malaysian showcase tour details

Tesla Malaysia is hosting a four-stop tour of the Cybercab at major malls in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Penang from October 29 to November 22, 2026. The display at Mid Valley Megamall runs until November 1. The vehicle will then move to Sunway Square Mall from November 3 to 9, followed by Pavilion Damansara Heights on November 10 and 11. The final stop is Gurney Plaza in Penang from November 13 to 22.

The company confirmed the tour on its official Instagram page. Tesla Malaysia has indicated it is working towards bringing autonomous driving to the country, but there is no confirmed launch date. Autonomous vehicle trials are already taking place in Malaysia. Commercial operation without a human driver, however, raises unresolved safety, insurance, liability, and regulatory concerns.

Vehicle specifications and design

The Cybercab is a two-seater autonomous taxi with a minimalist design. It lacks a steering wheel, accelerator pedal, brake pedal, or a traditional glovebox. The vehicle uses eight cameras for autonomous operation.

Distinctive design elements include butterfly doors with an external access button and a staggered wheel setup with 18-inch front and 21-inch rear aerodisks. The interior is dominated by a large central display, with accounts differing on its exact size. One description states it is a 21-inch screen, the largest in any Tesla vehicle. Another says it is a 22-inch display. The screen supports streaming, games, video calls, and email browsing. Window switches are located beneath it. The vehicle seen on tour features a gold-colored body.

Technical capabilities and limitations

The Cybercab is equipped with a single front-mounted traction motor producing 219 horsepower and a 47.6 kWh battery. This enables a combined range of 418.2 miles, or 673 kilometers. Charging is designed to occur via wireless inductive pads at depots, with no traditional charge flap.

The vehicle is purpose-built for Tesla's autonomous fleet of taxis under the Robotaxi initiative. That service currently operates in selected cities in Texas and Florida, with planned expansion to California and Arizona. The Cybercab is currently touring Southeast Asia, having started in Singapore earlier this month.

The Malaysian showcase concludes at Gurney Plaza in Penang on November 22, 2026.
