Momenta and Dongfeng Stellantis Automotive Technology (DSAT) have announced a global strategic partnership to jointly develop and supply advanced driver assistance systems for new Peugeot and Jeep production models. The agreement, signed in Shanghai on September 24, marks a significant expansion of Chinese-developed autonomous driving technology into established Western automotive brands. The intelligent driving systems are scheduled to hit the market from 2027 across China, Europe, and other international markets.
Under the partnership, Momenta will participate in product definition and joint development for the new models. The software developer will tailor the driver assistance systems to each brand's distinct character, adapting them for Jeep's off-road capabilities and Peugeot's handling characteristics. The collaboration provides Momenta with a direct route to global showrooms through Stellantis's distribution networks.
Technology and vehicle integration
The advanced driver assistance systems will be based on Momenta’s R7 World Model. Engineering teams from both companies will jointly develop these systems, fine-tuning steering, braking, and powertrain response to match the specific vehicle dynamics of each brand. The technical scope of the partnership extends beyond ADAS to include the joint development of Level 3 automated driving functions. This integration aims to combine sophisticated chassis tuning and vehicle controls with Momenta's software platform.
Market rollout and production timeline
The jointly developed intelligent driving systems will be introduced in several all-new DSAT-engineered models. These vehicles will roll out from 2027. The technology will be deployed in China first before being offered to customers in Europe and other global markets. The partnership is designed to bring advanced intelligent driving experiences to brands customers already know, without compromising the core driving character that defines Peugeot and Jeep. Powertrain options for these new models will include battery electric and plug-in hybrid variants.
Strategic significance for Momenta and DSAT
For Momenta, this partnership is a major step in its global expansion, bringing its technology to production vehicles from established automotive brands. CEO Cao Xudong stated that the recognition from DSAT, Peugeot, and Jeep gives the company greater confidence in the global potential of Physical AI developed in China. For DSAT, a joint venture established by Dongfeng Motor and Stellantis, the deal represents a strategic move to close a software feature gap. By outsourcing the autonomous architecture to Momenta while retaining control over vehicle dynamics and brand-specific tuning, DSAT aims to keep its brand identities distinct. Momenta will now prepare software localized for European roadway certifications ahead of 2028.
