Honda Cars India invests $46.9m in Karnataka
Honda Cars India has begun a Rs4.50 billion ($46.9 million) second-phase expansion of its spare parts warehouse in Doddaballapura, Karnataka.

Honda Cars India (HCIL) has started work on a Rs4.50 billion ($46.9 million) expansion of its spare parts warehouse in Doddaballapura, Karnataka. The investment marks the second phase of development at the site near Bengaluru, aimed at bolstering storage and distribution capabilities for Honda's dealer network across India.
According to the company, the expansion will improve operational efficiency and enable faster availability of genuine parts. The facility serves as a central hub for parts distribution, supporting not only Honda Cars India but also Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India and Honda India Power Products.
Warehouse capacity and design
The new phase will add approximately 80,000 square meters to the existing facility. The warehouse's first phase, covering 60,000 square meters, became operational in June 2025.
Once the second phase is complete, the entire Doddaballapura warehouse will span 140,000 square meters. The expanded site will feature advanced warehousing systems and energy-efficient elements. Its infrastructure is also designed to accommodate future growth.
| Phase | Area (m²) | Operational Date |
|---|---|---|
| Phase I | 60,000 | June 2025 |
| Phase II | 80,000 | Under development |
| Total | 140,000 | After Phase II completion |
Strategic location and supply chain role
HCIL highlighted the site's strategic importance within North Bengaluru's growing industrial and logistics corridor. The company stated the location offers good access to major highways, rail connectivity, and an international airport.
"The Doddaballapura facility is an important hub within Honda's integrated spare parts supply chain in India," the company added. HCIL President and CEO Takashi Nakajima said the expansion reflects Honda's continued commitment to strengthening its infrastructure in India and supporting growing customer needs.
The investment is also expected to create employment opportunities in Karnataka.
Recent Honda developments in India
This warehouse expansion follows other recent corporate moves by Honda in the Indian market. In June, the Competition Commission of India approved Honda Motor's plan to increase its stake in automotive parts maker Astemo by an additional 21%, acquiring the shares from Hitachi.
Astemo was formed in January 2021 through the merger of Hitachi Automotive Systems with three Honda group firms: Keihin Corporation, Showa Corporation, and Nissin Kogyo.
In May, Honda Motor established a new subsidiary named Honda Digital Innovation India (HDII). This entity was created to consolidate and grow Honda's digital services across the country's automotive sector. Uno Minda Infra is handling the development of the warehouse's second phase.
