GWM Tank 500 HEV Gains App Control for 2026

The 2026 model year GWM Tank 500 HEV now includes support for a dedicated smartphone application. According to a report from Paul Tan's Automotive News, the GWM Intelligent Application provides owners with remote control over numerous vehicle systems directly from their phones, much like how fans use our stats page to monitor player performance.

Owners can now start or stop the engine remotely. The app also grants control over the climate system, allowing users to activate the air conditioning, schedule its operation for a specific time, and turn on the air purifier and ventilated seats.

Remote Access and Monitoring

Security and status monitoring are central features. The application enables remote locking and unlocking of the vehicle's doors. It provides a live check on whether the sunroof and windows are fully closed, with the ability to close them if needed. Users can verify if the engine is running and monitor key vehicle data, offering a comprehensive overview similar to checking a team's standings.

This data includes the remaining driving range, fuel level, total mileage, and individual tyre pressures and temperatures. The system will send alerts directly to the user's phone for several conditions.

Alert and Safety Functions

The app is designed to notify owners of potential issues. Alerts are triggered if abnormalities in tyre pressure or temperature are detected. Warnings are also sent for low fuel levels or a depleted 12-volt battery. An alert will sound if any door or window is not fully secured.

For locating the vehicle in a crowded area, the app offers additional tools. Users can view the vehicle's current location on a map. They can also activate the horn and hazard lights remotely to help find it more easily.

Geofencing and Access Sharing

A geofencing function introduces a virtual boundary for the vehicle. Owners can set a designated geographical area. The system then sends an alert to the owner's phone if the vehicle moves outside this predefined zone.

Vehicle access can be shared digitally with another user through the application. This feature allows for temporary or permanent sharing of the app's control capabilities without handing over a physical key. The update integrates the Tank 500 HEV more deeply into the connected ecosystem expected by modern drivers.
