Archion Corporation has unveiled the first Mitsubishi-Fuso and Hino trucks to share a common platform. This marks a key milestone in integrating the two brands under the new holding company, according to a report from Just Auto.

The new Hino Ranger and Fuso Fighter medium-duty trucks are based on the same platform, with Hino supplying its existing platform to Mitsubishi Fuso. Archion confirmed the vehicles will go on sale mainly in the Japanese market in the near future.

Archion was established in April 2026 as the 100% shareholder of Japanese truck-makers Hino Motors Ltd and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation. Toyota Motor Corporation and Daimler Truck AG each own 25% of Archion's equity, with the remaining 50% of shares publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Integrated Platform Strategy

The company stated the new vehicles represent the first milestone in its 'Integrated Platform Strategy'. This strategy is a key pillar in the company's growth agenda.

Archion said the strategy aims to maximise integration synergies between Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso. It also seeks to strengthen product competitiveness and serve a broader range of customer needs.

As part of this strategy, the two brands will standardise core vehicle platforms. This includes powertrains, chassis, cabs, and electronic architectures. The plan is to optimise component specifications, leverage economies of scale, and enhance overall product competitiveness.

Development Timeline

Archion confirmed that in the near term, it will make use of existing platforms for the development of Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso trucks. The company said this approach will allow both brands to respond more quickly and effectively to customer needs that would have been difficult to address independently.

In the medium and long term, Archion will focus on developing new platforms. These platforms will fully leverage integration synergies by combining the strengths of Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso.

The company plans to foster a collaborative development approach with the extensive supplier networks of both companies. Archion also aims to leverage its strategic partnerships with Daimler Truck and Toyota.

Both partners possess industry-leading technological expertise. Through these partnerships, Archion aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Group as a whole. The goal is to adopt advanced technologies and realise greater economies of scale.

The initial platform sharing involves the following medium-duty truck models:

Archion's establishment and the platform strategy are aimed at maximising economies of scale. The approach shares the cost of developing platforms and other technologies while standardizing components across the two truck brands.
