Nissan has released full specifications for the 2027 US-market Rogue, the fifth-generation model of the SUV sold as the X-Trail elsewhere. The company confirmed this version will be offered exclusively with an e-Power hybrid powertrain, a move it attributes to having previously misread hybrid demand in the region.

The powertrain is the latest third-generation e-Power system. It uses a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder engine solely as a generator for a 1.67 kWh battery and two electric motors. The front motor produces 205 PS and 330 Nm, while the rear produces 136 PS and 195 Nm. Combined system output is 228 PS.

Nissan claims an internal fuel efficiency figure of 16.1 km per liter under US testing standards. The company says the vehicle was specifically tuned for North American driving conditions.

The SUV includes the e-Pedal one-pedal driving mode and a new Smooth Stop feature designed to reduce head toss by modulating brake pressure. Nissan states this feature is similar to the BMW iX3's Soft Stop.

Design and Styling

The vehicle's exterior features an edgy design inspired by the latest Murano and Leaf. A prominent X-shape is formed by bonnet and bumper shutlines. The lighting signature includes inverted L-shaped headlights and a strip connecting them above the grille.

A hexagonal motif is repeated throughout the design. The large grille features hexagonal inserts and integrates daytime running lights in a five-a-side arrangement. Nissan notes the numbers five and three correspond to "ni" and "san" in Japanese. The side profile continues the theme with a hexagonal D-pillar pattern and door slashes. The rising D-pillars are said to recall Mount Fuji.

The rear features full-width LED taillights and a tailgate design incorporating more hexagons. Wheel options include 18- and 19-inch designs, with the larger wheels also featuring hexagonal elements.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the dashboard uses a layered, wraparound design with soft-touch materials. The vehicle offers a widescreen display panel with either twin 12.3-inch or 14.3-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.

Upper trims gain built-in Google services, including Gemini AI voice control. The Rogue is the first Nissan to feature a 15-watt magnetised Qi2 wireless charger, with the range-topping Platinum trim offering twin chargers. The Platinum also includes a ten-speaker Bose sound system.

Physical controls remain for the air conditioning and steering wheel. Storage under the centre console has been expanded. Standard Zero Gravity seats can be optioned with ventilation and U-shaped quilting inspired by down jackets. Nissan claims class-leading front headroom and legroom. Rear doors open nearly 90 degrees to aid access.

The Rogue offers five ISOFIX anchors across its three rows of seats, a rarity in its class.

Safety and Driver Assistance

An upgraded ProPilot Assist Level 2 system comes standard. It uses a new front radar and camera with updated software for smoother adaptive cruise control and lane centring. A new front departure alert is also included.

Upper trims add automated lane change and a hands-free traffic jam assist function. Nissan says this assist is operable at speeds between 60 and 137 km/h.

According to the source, the Rogue will reach US dealers in the fourth quarter of the year, where it will be sold alongside the current petrol model. The global launch timeline for the X-Trail variant in other markets remains unspecified.
