Geely debuts AI off-road tech in Zhanjian
Geely Auto Group has unveiled an AI-powered technology suite for electrified off-road vehicles at its Shangrao proving ground.

Geely Auto Group has introduced a suite of artificial intelligence-powered technologies for electrified off-road vehicles. The technology package was unveiled at the company's Shangrao proving ground in Jiangxi province and will first appear in the Zhanjian 700 model.
According to the company, the system is designed to merge demanding all-terrain capability with the comfort and refinement expected from everyday driving. It integrates a new global terrain architecture (GTA) vehicle platform, the Geely EM-T hybrid powertrain, and an AI all-terrain digital chassis.
Plant-floor network automotive manufacturing
The core of the system is an AI that calculates power distribution, torque control, and body adjustments in response to terrain and driving conditions. The EM-T hybrid setup employs a three-motor four-wheel-drive system with intelligent torque management and differential locking. This is supported by Geely's Xingtui AI-powered Drive technology, which aids in maintaining traction.
The GTA architecture itself combines unibody construction with an integrated frame. Geely states this design aims to improve structural strength, reduce vehicle weight, and preserve cabin and cargo space. The company reports it has invested over 50 billion yuan, equivalent to $7.44 billion, in vehicle architecture development across platforms including CMA, SEA, and GEA.
Safety and validation systems
Geely also highlighted several safety and remote-use functions integrated into the technology suite. These include rollover and battery protection systems, satellite communications, and an onboard oxygen supply system for high-altitude travel. For water-related emergencies, the vehicle features an emergency flotation and escape mode that utilizes sonar and twin propulsors.
The Zhanjian 700 underwent extensive validation. Testing involved 659 vehicles covering more than 6.11 million kilometers across over 80 distinct off-road scenarios. The validation process included 7,933 individual items, with 433 new requirements specifically for electrified off-road vehicles.
At the same launch event, Geely introduced a global vehicle validation system intended to support development for overseas markets. This launch coincides with strong financial results for the automaker. Geely reported record first-half 2026 revenue of 173.6 billion yuan, a 15% increase year-on-year. Core profit attributable to owners of the parent company rose 46% to 9.68 billion yuan.
Vehicle sales for the period reached 1.42 million units. Exports surged by 158% to more than 474,000 units, leading Geely to raise its full-year 2026 export target to 920,000 units. For more detailed analysis on manufacturing trends and validation protocols, see our fixtures and stats pages.
