The electric vehicle brand has launched the Polestar 4 SUV, a new variant offering greater practicality than the existing coupe model. Production of the vehicle began in the second quarter of 2026 at the company's plant in Busan, South Korea, with the first customer deliveries planned for the fourth quarter of the same year.

Michael Lohscheller, the brand's CEO, stated the new model broadens the appeal of its most successful line. "Polestar 4 SUV broadens the appeal of our most successful model and extends our product offering in one of the industry's most important segments," he said.

Design and Practicality

Positioned in the compact executive SUV segment, this new model features a redesigned rear end with a straighter roofline and a more upright tailgate. A key addition is a rear glass window, which was absent on the coupe version. Full-length roof rails increase the dynamic roof load capacity to 100 kg. The more upright design of the SUV's rear end provides an extra 2.5 centimetres of headroom for second-row passengers compared to the Polestar 4 coupe.

A new, larger panoramic glass roof with a blacked-off brand logo is fitted as standard. An optional electrochromic glass roof, unique to the SUV variant, allows occupants to control light transmission via the centre display, choosing between transparent, tinted, or selectively shaded sections.

Interior and Technology

The interior maintains the minimalist and technology-focused character of the coupe. Ambient illumination offers a selection of cosmic themes to tailor the cabin atmosphere. The digital experience is anchored by a landscape-oriented centre display and driver display. User-friendliness has been enhanced with an increased number of widget shortcuts on the main display, rising from six to nine.

An optional Harman Kardon Premium Sound system, specifically tuned for this variant, features 12 speakers and a 1,400-Watt channel-hybrid amplifier. Interior materials emphasize sustainability. Standard bio-attributed MicroTech features a backing made from 100% recycled PET. Optional Tailored Knit upholstery is made from 89% recycled PET and is 3D-knitted to minimise waste.

Powertrain and Performance

Built on the same Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) as the coupe, the vehicle is offered with a choice of two powertrains, both using a standard 100 kWh battery. It supports DC charging of up to 200 kW and AC charging of up to 22 kW in selected markets.

Pricing and Manufacturing Footprint

In Germany, the Polestar 4 SUV starts at EUR 57,900 for the Rear motor variant and EUR 65,900 for the Dual motor variant. The model with a Performance pack is available from EUR 76,300. These are base prices excluding handover fees but including VAT.

The automaker currently manufactures vehicles on two continents, North America and Asia. The company plans to further diversify its manufacturing footprint, with production of the planned Polestar 7 compact SUV slated for Europe in 2028. This new SUV opens the rear vision-field with a standard rear window and conventional rear-view mirror, though the digital rear-view mirror from the coupe remains an optional extra.
