Mazda Malaysia offers cheaper 1.5L Mazda 3 High Plus variant
Mazda Malaysia offers a cheaper 1.5L High Plus Mazda 3 variant at RM120,620. It is RM45,439 less than the 2.0L model but has reduced power and no sunroof.

Mazda Malaysia has listed a 1.5L High Plus variant of the fully-imported Mazda 3. According to the brand's official website, the car is priced at RM120,620 on-the-road without insurance. This represents a RM1,000 increase from its launch price in November last year.
The 1.5L model is positioned as a more affordable option within the High Plus trim. It is substantially cheaper than the 2.0L High Plus, which continues to be priced at RM166,059. The price difference between the two engine variants is RM45,439.
Powertrain specifications
The core difference lies in the engine. The 1.5L High Plus uses a Skyactiv-G 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 118 horsepower and 153 Newton-metres of torque. This is less powerful than the 2.0 litre engine available in other variants.
Both engine options are paired with a Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Standard powertrain features across the range include i-Stop idle start-stop and G-Vectoring Control Plus.
| Variant | Engine | Power (hp) | Torque (Nm) | Price (RM) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5L High Plus | 1.5L Skyactiv-G | 118 | 153 | 120,620 |
| 2.0L High Plus | 2.0L Skyactiv-G | 162 | 213 | 166,059 |
Feature comparison with 2.0L variant
Beyond the engine, Mazda Malaysia states the equipment list is nearly identical. The sole omission on the 1.5L High Plus is a powered sunroof. All other features present on the 2.0L High Plus are retained.
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/45R18 tyres, automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and keyless entry. The interior features a seven-inch instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, a coloured head-up display, and a 10-way powered driver's seat with memory. A 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, eight speakers, and leather upholstery are also fitted.
Safety and driver assistance systems
The advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) suite is fully carried over. This package includes steering-responsive headlamps, auto high beam, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. Lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and a driver attention alert system are also standard.
Front and rear autonomous emergency braking, branded as Smart Brake Support, is included. Mazda Radar Cruise Control with stop-and-go functionality and Cruising & Traffic Support completes the ADAS offering. Passive safety is covered by seven airbags and standard systems like ABS, stability control, and hill start assist.
Warranty and colour options
Every Mazda 3 purchase includes a five-year or 100,000-kilometre warranty. A free maintenance package covering labour, parts, and lubricants is also provided, along with Activ-e window tint film.
Colour availability differs between the engine variants. The 1.5L High Plus can be ordered in Soul Red Crystal, Platinum Quartz, Polymetal Gray, Jet Black, and Machine Gray. Additional shades like Ceramic Metallic, Deep Crystal Blue, and Snowflake White Pearl are exclusive to the 2.0L models. The variant is offered in both sedan and hatchback body styles at the same price.
