Audi has officially unveiled the A2 e-tron, its most efficient model yet, with a WLTP-rated energy consumption rate of 12.8 kWh per 100 km, according to the company. The A2 e-tron has a range of up to 646 km and features silicon carbide semiconductors in its power electronics for improved efficiency.

Key Features

The A2 e-tron is available in four variants, with three battery sizes: 52 kWh, 61 kWh, and 84 kWh. These power the latest APP350 and APP550 motors, with power outputs ranging from 125 kW to 240 kW. The most powerful variant has a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h.

Efficiency and Performance

The A2 e-tron's efficiency is aided by its drag coefficient of 0.24, which is achieved through the use of aerodynamic details such as a controllable cooling air intake and a mostly enclosed underbody. The vehicle also features a special tyre optimized for rolling resistance and runs at higher-than-normal pressures. The A2 e-tron can be specified with either comfort suspension or sport suspension, and suspension with damper control is optional on the 170 kW variant.

Charging and Range

The A2 e-tron's charging capabilities vary depending on the battery size, with the largest 84 kWh battery offering the highest DC charging figure at 193 kW. However, DC charging from 10-80% also takes the longest at 29 minutes for this variant. The charging times and powers for each variant are as follows:

VariantBattery SizeDC Charging Power10-80% Charge Time
125 kW52 kWhup to 100 kW24 minutes
140 kW61 kWhup to 105 kW26 minutes
170 kW84 kWhup to 193 kW29 minutes
240 kW84 kWhup to 193 kW29 minutes

Interior and Equipment

The A2 e-tron features a range of interior equipment, including an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit plus driver's instrument display and a 12.8-inch curved touch display angled towards the driver. The vehicle also features an optional panoramic glass roof, a cooled phone charging tray, and Fidlock fasteners, which Audi claims to be the first premium carmaker to use. The luggage compartment volume is 396 litres, which can grow to 1,336 litres with the rear seats folded down.

The A2 e-tron is expected to start deliveries in Europe in December, with pricing in Germany starting from 38,200 euros for the 125 kW variant with the 52 kWh battery. The top 240 kW variant is priced at 51,200 euros. The A2 e-tron's pricing and specifications are subject to change, and customers are advised to check with Audi for the latest information.
